Patient Assistance Programs
Many of the pharmaceutical manufacturers offer Patient Assistance Programs
(PAPs) to low income seniors. These programs offer great assistance to many
on expensive medications. The assistance ranges from discounted pricing for
medication to even some being offered for free. Each program is slightly
different and each has certain criteria that must be met. Always let your
doctor know if you can't afford the medications they prescribe. There may
be generic or alternative medications available, they can provide you with
free samples, or assist you with signing up for the PAPs.
Basic requirements for all programs include:
Must be enrolled in Medicare
Have no current prescription coverage
Annual income restrictions range from about $7,500 - $30,000 for an individual
